JACKSONVILLE, FLA - The Jacksonville Sharks announce the addition of offensive and defensive lineman Dennis Conley to the 2011 roster.
Conley (6’4, 305, Hampton) joins the Sharks for his rookie Arena Football season after a four-year career at Hampton. As a pirate, Conley was a three-year starter playing in 41 games, starting 34, over his four years. He was awarded all-Conference honors as a senior and was named as a member of the IAA - Pre-Season CDS All-American team. He was also selected to the BoxToRow. com/BASN HBCU All-America Team as well as 2008 ALL-MEAC CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM, Sports Network Preseason Second Team All-American, SBN Sports Black College All-American Team and SouthernPigskin.com Honorable Mention/4th Team All- American.
After his collegiate career, Conley was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted rookie free-agent but was not retained. Conley was also signed as an unrestricted free-agent to the Jets, but was later waived. One year after being signed by the Bears, he was invited back to Chicago for a private workout.
The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL). The reigning South Division Champions are presented by Sea Best Seafood and play all home games on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The Sharks return to action Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Arizona to battle the Rattlers. The Sharks return home Friday, March 18, 2011 to take on division foe Georgia Force.
