SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Talons return to the Alamodome after a bye-week and two away games in which they claimed consecutive victories and advanced their winning streak to six games.

This homecoming has special significance for the players and fans as the Talons’ are hosting a Military Appreciation Night for the city. The game is dedicated to honoring those who serve our country, and as one way to show their appreciation, the Talons are offering members of the military a special Buy One-Get One Free ticket offer for Saturday’s 7 p.m. home game.

The Talons are proud to play for Military City USA, and for many players on the team, this game hits close to home. Fullback Wes Mauia is dedicating this game to his younger sister, Sinalevaiana, who has been in the Army for six years.

“This game means a lot to me because these are the people who risk their lives for our safety and are representing our country every day,” Mauia says.

Ray Hisatake, Steven Sheffield, Anthony Bolden, Burl Toler III and Aaron Garcia of the San Antonio Talons also have close family ties to the military.

“It is such an honor to be able to visit some of the men and women that protect our country,” says quarterback Aaron Garcia, whose grandfather served in the Army Air Corps (USAAC), a forerunner of the current United States Air Force. “I cannot wait to play this Saturday night in a game that is dedicated to each and every one of them. San Antonio is such a huge military town as well as a huge football town, and I hope we can combine the two in a big way.”

The Talons have always been avid supporters of the military. This year, Talons players and Sky Dancers have traveled to the San Antonio bases for autograph sessions and to hand out free vouchers for all home games.

The Talons’ Military Appreciation Game against the Iowa Barnstormers will kick off on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. in the Alamodome, with a free Talons Tailgate taking place throughout the afternoon in Lot B of the Alamodome parking lot.
